The Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa, a pioneer in hotel innovation and comfort since its very beginning, is continuing its renovations and opening a new gastronomic offer with the restaurant "Radius by Stefan Beer".
In the Bernese Oberland, at the foot of the legendary Jungfrau, lies the Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa, a historic hotel built in 1865. At that time, artists and scientists flocked here, attracted by the magnificence of its gold and crystal decor. Since then, its Belle Epoque style has continued to attract visitors. The first part of the building, the Pension Victoria, was bought in 1856 by the 22-year-old entrepreneur Eduard Ruchti and was quickly transformed into the Hotel Victoria. A few years later, he bought the adjacent Hotel Jungfrau and opened the Grand Hotel Victoria-Jungfrau. It was very innovative for its time and already had telephone lines, a hydraulic lift and electric light in all rooms. More than 150 years later, the attraction is still there. Today, after renovating 70 rooms and suites, the Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa launched a new renovation of 57 rooms in the Victoria Wing of the hotel in January 2022. As with previous renovations, the design style combines modern elements with traditional aspects to reflect the hotel's history.
The Swiss company Aevis Victoria SA, which owns the hotel as well as La Réserve Eden au Lac in Zurich, the Bellevue Palace in Bern and the Crans Ambassador in Crans Montana, recorded very good financial results in the first half of 2022. Aevis Victoria SA, which invests in healthcare, real estate and hotels, saw a 42.6% increase in turnover to CHF 584.2 million, of which CHF 80.2 million (compared to CHF 52.9 million in 2021) was generated by the hotel sector, the lifting of restrictions linked to the pandemic having largely contributed to this increase.
The Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa has two restaurants, including the Terrace Brasserie, offering a variety of dishes featuring high-quality local products. In autumn 2022, the success story of this restaurant will be continued in the "Radius by Stefan Beer" restaurant, whose executive chef, Stefan Beer, was awarded 17 Gault&Millau points in 2021.
