Sign of the Times star Harry Styles signs with the Gucci brand for a capsule collection with the original code name "HA HA HA."
Shortly after Alessandro Michele was appointed as Gucci's new creative director in 2015, Harry Styles was chosen as the brand's ambassador. Since then, the British popstar has regularly chosen to dress in the brand's colours, for his concerts, video clips or magazine covers. Today, this alliance takes the form of a capsule collection with a curious name: "HA HA HA", a liberating laugh in homage to the friendship between Harry Styles and Alessandro Michele. But it's also the first two letters of their respective first names, a stylish way to symbolise their friendship through clothing.
The letters "HA HA HA" are stamped on all the pieces in the men's collection. A unique selection inspired by multiple universes: the bohemian world of the Seventies, the British style revisited thanks to Prince of Wales fabrics used in an unusual way on double-breasted coats, or the romantic pop style of velvet suits, patchwork jackets and colourful shirts. A tribute from Gucci to the aesthetic codes of Harry Styles' beloved Seventies idols. The collection, which the two artists consider to be "their ideal wardrobe", will be available for sale in October.
This is not the first time Gucci has created capsule collections in collaboration with young and innovative artists who are highly regarded in their field. From Barcelona-based artist Ignasi Monreal to photographer Coco Capitan and London-based illustrator Helen Downie, better known by her pseudonym - Unskilled Worker - Alessandro Michele has revolutionised and enriched Gucci's style through the visionary eyes of the selected artists. Their ability to give an exuberant, new and playful reading of fashion appeals to the younger generation. In the first quarter of 2022, Gucci's sales reached €2.5 billion.
