Girard-Perregaux and Saint Laurent Rive Droite join forces to reimagine the iconic 70s Casquette watch. The new Casquette 2.0 Saint-Laurent 01, limited to 100 pieces, this is the first time the Kering group worked again with Girard-Perregaux since the brand was sold in 2022.
On June 6th, 2023, Swiss watchmaking company Girard-Perregaux, in collaboration with Saint Laurent Rive Droite, announced a new interpretation of their iconic watch, the Casquette. Limited to 100 pieces, this edition embodies the disruptive design that marked its name in the 1970s.
The original Casquette model launched in 1976, marked a departure from the conservative norms of Haute Horlogerie. Embracing the watchmaking zeitgeist of the 70s, Girard-Perregaux equipped the Casquette with a tubular LED display and a quartz movement.
The Creative Director of Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello, chose to re-edit this model in black ceramic and grade 5 titanium treated with black PVD. It is also equipped with a chronograph and can display time in different locations.
This limited edition Casquette 2.0 Saint-Laurent 01 will be available exclusively at Saint Laurent Rive Droite stores in Paris and Los Angeles, as well as online via the official Saint Laurent Rive Droite store in selected countries only.
It is worth mentioning that this new collaboration follows a significant change in Girard-Perregaux's structure. In early 2022, French luxury group Kering sold Sowind Group SA, which owns Swiss watch manufacturers Girard-Perregaux and Ulysse Nardin, to their current management, still led by Patrick Pruniaux. This decision was part of Kering's strategy to focus on its flagship brands, such as Gucci, Saint Laurent, and Balenciaga. Nevertheless, Kering maintains collaborations with Girard-Perregaux, as this recent initiative with Saint Laurent demonstrates.
Founded in 1791, Girard-Perregaux is one of the oldest fine watchmaking manufacturers still in operation. It is known for its creations that skillfully blend aesthetics and functionality, including its iconic "Laureato" model and the legendary "Tourbillon With Three Gold Bridges."
