Chloé has partnered with the newly founded sustainable fashion brand Atelier Jolie, led by Angelina Jolie, focusing on craftsmanship and recycled materials. The profits from this collaboration will be allocated to supporting the training of artisans from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Chloé, one of the fashion brands under the Swiss Richemont group, has joined forces with the label established by American actress Angelina Jolie. The Hollywood star has launched a sustainable fashion brand called Atelier Jolie, with a focus on artisanal craftsmanship and recycled fabrics. This eco-friendly brand will be launched this autumn, and all materials used will be B Corp certified, following a rigorous evaluation by B Lab, an organization dedicated to promoting the most environmentally ethical businesses.
Gabriela Hearst, the creative director of Chloé who recently announced her departure from the brand, presented the capsule collection resulting from the collaboration between the two brands. She states that "this collection will be a unique opportunity to celebrate and explore the connections between women and haute couture." Chloé will be the first brand to collaborate with Angelina Jolie's new label. The actress has announced that the profits from sales will be reinvested in the training of seamstresses and artisans from disadvantaged backgrounds, even considering recruiting collaborators with refugee status.
For several years, Jolie has been engaged with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). In 2023, she is ranked as the highest-paid actress in the world, earning €82 million between May 2022 and May 2023, according to the American economic magazine "People with money," an increase of around €50 million compared to the previous year. The actress's accumulated profits are said to come not only from her film fees but also from advertising partnerships, such as with Cover Girl cosmetics, real estate investments, and stock holdings. Angelina Jolie's fortune is estimated to be around $245 million.
As for Chloé, the luxury house is strongly focused on collaborations with "green" companies. It recently launched its Chloé Vertical collection, featuring a QR code on each item to inform customers about the origin of the materials used. As of now, the successor to Gabriela Hearst as the brand's creative director has not yet been announced.
