Street food, a living heritage

For Singaporeans, the street food culture reflects the exceptional richness of cultural influences in the city. Chinese, Indian and Malaysian cuisine can be found in the open-air stalls. This specificity is so important that the country has recently campaigned to have this practice included on the 2020 list of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, whose mission is to preserve the fragile cultures, traditions and know-how that are an integral part of a particular place.
