Brazil
Desert for surfers
The Lençóis Maranhenses are certainly the natural jewel of the Northeast of Brazil. This white sandy desert covers nearly 155,000 hectares, an infinite and changing landscape of dunes whose peculiarity is to offer a multitude of freshwater lagoons more than half of the year, at the end of the rainy season. Then it turns into a kitesurfing paradise with exceptional conditions: constant cross winds, endless plains and warm shallow waters. The wind season is between July and December, during which their speed varies between 15 and 25 knots.
