Art in a new light
Last September, the first permanent Swiss museum of immersive art, the Lichthalle MAAG, opened in Zurich. This “room of light” displays works by outstanding artists in a new manner. The masterpieces are illuminated, animated, set to music and projected onto walls, ceilings and floors up to 34 metres wide and 10 metres high. This allows the public to admire the oeuvres while being immersed in the artistic proposal at 360 degrees. The opening of the museum was marked by a world premiere, a colourful exhibition of the popular works of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo: “Viva Frida Kahlo – Immersive Experience”, to be seen until 2 January 2022.
