A new architectural landmark in Amsterdam
The residential Sluishuis project in Amsterdam, built from 2017 to 2022 for a total value of €70 million and 46’000 square meters, offers an innovative and sustainable way to live on water, with a total of 442 energy neutral rental and owner-occupied homes. Built by Barcode Architects and Bjarke Ingels Group, the project, which also includes catering facilities, houseboat lots, and a fully integrated water landscape among many other features, has an energy performance coefficient of 0.00. The building’s heating requirements are minimized by combining high-performance insulation techniques and triple glazing among other things. Energy consumption is further reduced by a heat and cold storage and by approximately 2,200 m² of solar panels.
