A chapel in balance

Two hours from the centre of Beijing, in a mountainous valley, stands what one might imagine to be a huge rock in balance. However, it is the “Chapel of Sound”, a concrete construction mixed with a local rock rich in minerals, giving it a rough cave-like appearance from the inside. This unique building designed in 2021 by OPEN Architecture, a Beijing-based agency, is composed of partly open music rooms that let in natural light. This space offers a breathtaking view of the surroundings.
