Puig Group Names Julian Klausner As Successor To Dries Van Noten
By Eva Morletto10 décembre 2024
Julian Klausner is to take over as creative director of the Dries Van Noten brand after its founder decided to step down five months ago on the occasion of the fashion house's 150th collection.
On 19 March 2024, Dries Van Noten announced his wish to retire from fashion after an extraordinary career spanning 38 years. His last collection was presented in June for the Men's Spring Summer 2025 shows.
Julian Klausner, the new 33-year-old artistic director, knows the famous Belgian designer well, having had the opportunity to work alongside him on the women's collections since 2018. A 2016 graduate of the La Cambre school in Brussels, he can also draw on his previous experience at Margiela. His arrival has been hailed as ‘a natural relationship between the past and the future’, as the house put it in its media release. ‘His deep knowledge of the brand's values will ensure a smooth transition and a bright future,’ the announcement continued.
Julian Klausner will present the Men's Winter 2025 collection to the public in January. On the other hand, his first women's collection is scheduled for 5 March 2025.
On 14 June 2018, the Spanish Puig Group acquired a majority stake in Dries Van Noten. The Antwerp designer remained artistic director and chairman of the board.
In recent years, despite the setbacks experienced by the luxury sector, the Puig Group has shown solid growth and remarkable financial stability. Last year, the Catalan group announced record sales for the third year running, with sales of €4.3 billion and a net profit of €465 million, up 19% and 16%, respectively, on the previous year, with consistent double-digit growth across all geographic regions.
This year, Puig has successfully weathered the general slowdown in the luxury goods industry: in the third quarter of 2024, the Group posted sales of €1.2 billion; in the first nine months of the year, sales totaled €3.43 billion.
The solidity of the Group has enabled Dries Van Noten to explore new activities in recent years, such as make-up and fragrances. Beauty is the spearhead of Puig, which has other iconic labels such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Rabanne, and Carolina Herrera, among others.
