New York Fashion Week celebrated fashion on the street
By Cécilia Pelloux15 septembre 2022
The first to open the runway shows, New York Fashion Week is finally back. The most lucrative event for New York City ahead of the US Open and the marathon, it remains a powerful laboratory of urban culture trends.
On the streets, the excitement and effervescence generated by fashion week were palpable. Extravagant and sophisticated styles were displayed by fashion fans. Metallic boots, ultra-large glasses, colours, materials, prints, everything was worn, layered and mixed. To celebrate the start of Fashion Week last Thursday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams co-hosted a cocktail party with Steven Kolb, director of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and Anna Wintour at the Gracie Mansion. The chief executive of New York City's government was thus setting himself apart from his predecessors, who were keen to become more involved in this sector for his city.

Fashion celebrated pop culture in New York
On Friday 9 September, Fendi kicked off the event. The Italian brand, owned by LVMH, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the baguette with a grand show held in the gigantic Hammerstein Ballroom, which was transformed for the event. Fendi was back in New York, where its iconic bag - created by Silvia Venturini Fendi in 1997 - made its mark on pop culture, becoming famous thanks to actress Sarah Jessica Parker's replica in the cult series Sex and the City. Fendi's artistic directors (Kim Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi) collaborated with Marc Jacobs, Tiffany & Co, Sarah Jessica Parker and Porter for the occasion.
The Fendi logo was used in an infinite number of ways, both on clothes and accessories. The bag's signature buckle can be found on parkas, gaiters, gloves, hats, jumpers and skirts. Baguette bags come in all sizes and are often worn by two or three at a time. Young, urban, casual looks. Sequins, fluorescent colours, silver, silk, shaved mink, glazed leather, the materials are superimposed for a harmonious and bright look. A Tiffany blue total look, the signature colour of the American jewellery house, which will join the LVMH fold in 2021, was worn by Bella Hadid with her matching baguette.
To close the tribute, supermodel Linda Evangelista appeared on stage wearing a huge Tiffany blue cape with a silver baguette in her arm. A standing ovation for the brand ambassador who was making her comeback on the catwalk after several years of absence.
