LVMH strengthens its environmental commitment at COP 28

LVMH is intensifying its environmental commitment at COP 28 in Dubai, reinforcing its eco-responsible strategy with the LIFE 360 program. The group is collaborating with the Foundation For Amazon Sustainability to protect Amazonian biodiversity and partnering with luxury real estate players to reduce carbon emissions.
Environmental protection and actions against climate change are increasingly integrated into the strategy of the luxury group LVMH. Already present at COP 26 and 27, Bernard Arnault's group is also participating in COP 28, currently underway in Dubai. LVMH's environmental action takes shape through the LIFE 360 program, which focuses on four pillars: combating climate change, circular economy, transparency in production processes and sources of raw materials, as well as biodiversity protection.
LVMH has already partnered with UNESCO to contribute to the "Man and the Biosphere" program. In continuity with this initiative, the group announced a new project during this COP in collaboration with the Foundation For Amazon Sustainability (FAS). FAS plays a major role in Brazil against deforestation in the Amazon basin, where biodiversity has been severely affected for several decades. LVMH's investment in this partnership amounts to approximately 1 million euros. The group's objectives include the protection of 5 million hectares of forests and natural habitats worldwide, reducing carbon emissions from its activities, and sponsoring several initiatives aimed at protecting local wildlife and flora.
The signing of this partnership with FAS took place last Saturday at Stella McCartney's booth, a brand known for its ecological commitment, in the presence of Antoine Arnault and Virgilio Viana, Superintendent General of FAS. LVMH is also using its presence in Dubai to sign a second agreement, "Unity for Change," a partnership involving several players in the luxury real estate market in the Middle East (Chalhoub Group, Emaar Malls, Majid Al Futtaim, and Aldar Properties) with goals to reduce carbon emissions.
During this edition of COP, LVMH will present the results of the commitments made at COP 27 in Egypt and the partnership with the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance (CBA). These agreements have led, among other things, to the training of 500 farmers in the Lake Chad region and the launch of several regenerative cotton plantations, which will be integrated into the production process of the group's houses. This project is part of the larger Great Green Wall initiative aimed at combating desertification around the Sahara, including the replanting of 500'000 trees by 2026.
