On Monday, French luxury goods giant LVMH announced the sale of luxury streetwear brand Off-White to US company Bluestar Alliance LLC. The group refused to comment on ‘the terms of the transaction’
Founded in 2013 by the former artistic director of Louis Vuitton's men's collections Virgil Abloh, the Off-White brand has been 60% owned by LVMH since July 2021, against 40% by its founder. The luxury brand, managed by Cristiano Fagnani since June 2023, is now in the hands of the American group Bluestar Allianc LLC.
Also owner of the Hurley, Scotch & Soda, Kensie and Catherine Malandrino brands, this brand management company would be “the perfect partner to carry that legacy forward”, said LVMH in a joint press release. Based in New York and founded in 2006 by Joseph Gabbay and Ralph Gindi, the company ‘owns,manages, and market a portfolio of consumer brands that span across many tiers of distribution’.

Following the premature death of the king of luxury streetwear in November 2021, musician, producer and stylist Pharrell Williams succeeded him as creative director of Louis Vuitton menswear. Ibrahim Kamara took over as artistic director of Off-White, but the brand ‘never really recovered from the death of its designer’, says Fashion United.
Off-White had sent out a rather obvious signal of its future takeover, since unlike usual, the label did not show at Paris Fashion Week, but in New York for the first time in its history. The spring/summer 2025 collection was presented in Brooklyn Bridge Park in a huge basketball court, inspired by a trip to Ghana, the country of origin of the late founder.
