At the 2025 Baftas, which took place this Sunday evening in London, the major luxury brands once again seized the opportunity to associate their image with that of the stars on the red carpet.
The thriller “Conclave”, starring Ralph Fiennes, and “The Brutalist”, with Adrien Brody, dominated the Bafta ceremony on Sunday, February 16 in London. The British Academy Film Awards 2025 were held at the Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall, hosted by David Tennant. The evening was broadcast live on the BBC, but the audience figures have not yet been released.
A fortnight before the Oscars, “The Brutalist”, directed by Brady Corbet, and “Conclave”, by German filmmaker Edward Berger, each won four trophies, while two prizes were awarded to Jacques Audiard's masterpiece “Emilia Perez”, which recently caused several controversies due to controversial tweets posted by one of the actresses. The film received the award for Best Film in a Non-English Language and Zoe Saldaña was honored as Best Supporting Actress. Young Mikey Madison won the award for Best Actress for her role as a stripper in “Anora” by Sean Baker, which had already won an award at Cannes.

The audience included a host of movie stars. Among the distinguished guests were Timothée Chalamet accompanied by Kylie Jenner, Adrien Brody, Ralph Fiennes and Cynthia Erivo. As every year, luxury brands were in the spotlight on the red carpet: Nico Parker, Lancôme ambassador, caused a sensation in a transparent Chanel outfit; Saoirse Ronan, who came to defend Nora Fingscheidt's film “The Outrun”, wore a sumptuous Louis Vuitton dress; actress actress Laetitia Wright opted for a dark red Prada model; Pamela Anderson, true to her natural style without makeup, dazzled in a long, immaculate Jacquemus dress; Vanessa Kirby was in a total black look inspired by Celine, while Selena Gomez, founder of the Rare Beauty brand, among others, wore Tiffany & Co. cuffs and earrings as well as a tight-fitting two-tone dress, adorned with precious stones and a black velvet bustier, from Schiaparelli's haute couture collection.
This year, the ceremony was held in the absence of Prince William, honorary president of the BAFTAs, and his wife Kate. Once again, luxury brands have benefited from an exceptional showcase by associating themselves with the image of movie stars.
Except during major sporting events, there are few opportunities to achieve such resonance on an international scale. Increasingly, contracts stipulate that celebrities associated with a film must also represent the brands that appear in it at these prestigious events. For the brands, the financial interest is considerable, given that the cost of these partnerships remains much lower than that of advertising space purchased to be broadcast during the event.
