This Wednesday, the Accor group announced in a press release that it is joining forces with the Indian conglomerate InterGlobe to accelerate its expansion in India, with the ambition of reaching 300 hotels by 2030.
The hotel giant Accor has just signed a strategic agreement with InterGlobe, India's leading travel conglomerate and the main shareholder of India's largest airline, IndiGO. The leading player operates a fleet of more than 400 aircraft serving more than 130 destinations worldwide. In the stock market capitalization, IndiGo is one of the most highly valued airlines in the world.
Accor, which has been present in India for two decades, now hopes to boost its presence and become one of the major players in the country's hotel industry by accelerating partnerships and the opening of establishments.

Sébastien Bazin, the group's president, welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm: “This landmark partnership marks a transformative moment for Accor and its brands in India. By aligning with our long-term successful and trusted partner InterGlobe and bringing together the best of hospitality, tech and entrepreneurship in India, we are unlocking unprecedented growth potential in one of the world’s most exciting travel markets”. The agreement with InterGlobe aims to build a portfolio of 300 Accor properties by 2030. The group already has 71 properties in the country, among its 5,680 hotels worldwide, representing an exceptional hotel portfolio that ensures its market leadership and growing revenues.
The group's revenues for the 2024 financial year amounted to 5.6 billion Euros, an increase of 11% compared to 2023. With this partnership, InterGlobe will bring its valuable expertise in the world of travel and air transport, as well as its knowledge of logistics and AI-based new technologies. It will also enable the two companies to invest by becoming the major shareholder of Treebo, one of the main players in the budget hotel sector in India with 800 hotels in 120 cities.
India is currently one of the countries with the most promising development potential for hotel chains. It can indeed count on a flourishing economy, a GDP growth of 7% and a population of 1.4 billion, with a constantly growing upper-middle class.
By 2027, the country is set to rise to 5th place in the world for overseas travel and 3rd for domestic travel.
