Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and Rolls-Royce - the most prestigious brands all posted record sales figures in 2023.
The latest to publish its sales figures is Lamborghini, which has announced total sales of €2.66 billion in 2023, up 12.1% on the previous year. The Sant'Agata Bolognese-based company sold a total of 10,112 cars during the year. "This allows us to look to the future and plan the next few years with ambitious new objectives: a future that, from 2024, will see major innovations," said Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. The brand has made significant progress in electrifying its racing cars, which was achieved in 2023 with the arrival on the market of the Revuelto model, which should be perfected throughout this year.
The Italian brand, which has been part of the Volkswagen group since 1998, is not the only one to record results in 2023. Porsche has announced sales of 40.5 billion euros, including a net profit of 7.3 billion euros and an operating margin of 18%. In 2023, the group delivered 320,221 cars worldwide, 3% more than the previous year.
Ferrari is also enthusiastic. Last year saw the Maranello-based manufacturer break several records, with sales of 5.9 billion euros (+17.2%), in line with the highly optimistic forecasts of financial analysts, and a net profit of 1.25 billion euros, representing a jump of 34% on the previous year.
As for Rolls-Royce, 2023 was a banner year: the British luxury carmaker delivered more than 6,000 models, a performance made possible primarily by the American and Chinese markets.
Why is the ultra-luxury segment so successful?
Carmakers have succeeded in customising their models to suit the tastes and needs of each customer. The arrival of 'super SUVs' has also been a significant factor in boosting sales. These record figures and the financial strength of the groups mean that it is now easier to move towards electrification.
